Travel teams, development academy, and rec soccer on the upper east side

Do you love soccer and futsal? Have people told you that you’re great with kids? Do you excel at breaking down complex skills into simple steps? 

If you answered yes to all three, we’re looking for someone like you to teach soccer and futsal to our youth athletes.

OUR PROGRAM:

JOÜK Development groups:

JOÜK is our development program for afterschool groups. Here, we teach building-block skills, through skills activities and small-sided games. The goal is to learn:

  • Coordination

  • Agility

  • Ball mastery

  • Teamwork

  • Friendship

  • And just to have fun while being introduced to the world culture of soccer and futsal!

CENTAURUS FC REC SOCCER:

Fun 4v4 rec games (usually on Saturdays), all year-round for ages 6-10, including winter futsal. The goal is:

  • To have fun

  • Get kids to love soccer, playing small-sided games.

Centaurus FC TRAVEL TEAMS:

Centaurus FC’s travel teams (U7-U9) play in the CJSL (all games within the 5 boroughs), and several tournaments per year. The goal is to develop the whole player, using:

  • Individual skills training

  • Tactics and teamwork training

  • Futsal and futnet

  • Team-building activities

  • Watching games to train Soccer IQ

  • Scrimmages and competitions

  • Goal-setting activity

  • Cutting-edge fitness testing

  • International camps

TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT:

We pride ourselves in creating a positive environment where players feel supported to try new things and be creative while learning. 

We believe all kids have potential and deserve a chance to learn, so it’s important for development coaches to work with each one of them, meeting them where they are. 

COACH DUTIES:

As a coach, you will: 

  • Bring equipment to and from the training site (be able to lift and carry 15-20 lbs)

  • Arrive punctually to your locations to set up, and ensure the field/gym conditions are safe to play on

  • Safely manage a group of up to 12 children

  • Create lesson plans implementing our curriculum, teaching fundamental skills and encouraging character development

  • Be a positive, inspiring role model for our youth players 

  • Communicate in a clear, professional way with parents

  • Travel team coaches will also attend games, representing the program with excellent sportsmanship and positive coaching. 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience playing soccer

  • Enjoy working with children

  • 2+ years experience coaching soccer or futsal

  • 2+ years experience working with children ages 3-12 years old

  • Ability to demonstrate fundamental technical skills to beginner and intermediate footballers

  • Hold a US Youth Futsal Level 2 coaching certificate or USSF Grassroots license 9v9, 7v7, 4v4

  • Care about the 360° development of all players

  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and parents

  • Must be motivated, energetic, outgoing, patient, and attentive

  • Eligible to work in the US

Desired extras:

  • US Youth Futsal Level 3 coaching certificate or higher

  • USSF C License (equivalent or higher)

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree

  • Bilingual (Spanish or Mandarin are especially helpful)

REQUIRED AVAILABILITY:

  • Working hours range from 2-15 hours weekly

  • Preferred availability: Weekday afternoons (2 pm-7 pm), Weekend morning/afternoons (8:30 am-3 pm)

  • Summer camp employment is from 8 am to 3 pm, for two or three weeks in July/August

*Please note: you will be required to do a demo practice session as part of the interview process.

COMPENSATION: 

JOÜK Technical Development Program: $30-$50/hour, sessions 1 hr long.

Centaurus FC: $55-$80/session, sessions are 1.5 hrs long. 

Assistants: $30-$45 per session.
